This trio of veteran San Francisco-based improvisors has worked together since 1991 “to investigate concepts central to the tradition of jazz-based improvisation - swing, song form, modalities, etc - in a less explicit manner than the mainstream but in a more emphatically traditional way than offered by the practice of free jazz.” Together or individually, the group’s members have worked with Rova Sax Quartet, Cecil Taylor, Anthony Braxton, John Zorn, Kronos Quartet, and a host of others.
